RetroBrowser+ 1.6.5 Update: Nintendo 64 Emulation, Comic Book Theme and Better Performance

RetroBrowser+ 1.6.5 is now available! This update introduces experimental Nintendo 64 emulation, a brand-new Comic Book theme, improved controller responsiveness, and several performance optimizations.

One of the biggest highlights is RS64, our own Nintendo 64 emulator developed specifically for RetroBrowser+.

Nintendo 64 Emulation Arrives with RS64

The RetroBrowser+ 1.6.5 update introduces experimental Nintendo 64 support through RS64, a custom emulator built using WebAssembly (WASM) and WebGPU technologies.

Unlike existing emulation cores, RS64 has been developed specifically for RetroBrowser+ and is not available on any other platform.

This is an exciting step forward for the project, but RS64 is still experimental. Some games may experience graphical glitches, compatibility issues, or performance problems.

Your feedback is welcome! Reporting bugs and sharing your experience with different Nintendo 64 games will help us identify issues and improve the emulator over time.

Improved Performance and Reduced Resource Usage

We’ve optimized the bezel and visual filter systems to reduce resource consumption and improve overall stability.

These improvements aim to provide a smoother gaming experience, particularly when using graphical effects alongside demanding emulation cores.

Actual performance will still depend on your computer’s hardware.

More Responsive Controller Configuration

RetroBrowser+ 1.6.5 also includes improvements to the controller configuration system.

We’ve addressed slight input lag that could occur on certain emulated systems, helping make controls more responsive and gameplay more enjoyable.

New Comic Book Theme

Looking for a different visual style? RetroBrowser+ now includes a brand-new Comic Book theme, available directly from the extension settings.

This colorful, comic-inspired interface offers an alternative to the default design while keeping the familiar RetroBrowser+ features and functionality.
